Love is in the Air

As we approach Valentine’s Day, it is a time to celebrate love - in its many forms! That could mean a romantic evening with a partner, games with friends, or reminiscing with family. Valentine’s Day is a great time to reflect and share appreciation for the special people in our lives. For a widowed parent, since they could be experiencing pain, spending time with them to reminisce and share memories can show them this holiday is about love in all its wonderful forms. Taking the time to do this may help to alleviate some of that grief.

At Siena on Brendenwood, we embrace and celebrate love and friendship between friends and families! It’s amazing to witness how quickly new friendships and bonds form between community members, neighbors, and family members at our community. It could be old friends reconnecting or finding a new best friend later in life. Our community offers an environment that provides an active social lifestyle where our community members can get to know one another and form bonds. Our Life Enrichment Calendar is full of outings, social events, fitness programs, card games, craft classes, and movies to satisfy a wide range of personal interests. We also have several common spaces available for special family gatherings to celebrate private family events.

If you’re not in the area to visit, there are still meaningful ways to show your love. Brightening up your parent's day with a cheerful greeting card. A phone call can be made on the special holiday to remember together the love that you still share as a family and share memories of past celebrations. This year our Life Enrichment Team are selling Valentines. These cards and balloons will be delivered the morning of February 14th to their apartments. Call us at 815-399-6167 if you would like to order one for your loved ones here at Siena.

Valentine's Day can be a difficult holiday for any of us. Show your aging loved one you are thinking of them with gifts, sending pictures, visits, phone calls or cards.
