Our community here at Siena loves music. Some days, you can hear a community members playing a tune on the grand piano in the living room, or even the voices of our own Siena Choir!

Did you know that the health benefits of singing are not only psychological, but also physical? Singing has physical benefits because it is an aerobic activity that increases oxygenation in the blood stream and exercises major muscle groups in the upper body, even while sitting. By increasing our oxygenation we also have greater mental awareness. Even better than singing a tune on your own, when we sing together with a group of people we have a sense of community, belonging and a shared endeavor.

There are so many reasons to enjoy music in your everyday life. The benefits of Listening to Music are endless and have demonstrated psychological and overall health benefits including:

  • A happier outlook on life.
  • Bettered social interaction.
  • Enhanced moods.
  • Increased positive emotions.
