Be Someone Special for Someone Special
Our Siena Serves volunteer program is coming about its eighth year of giving! Our program consists of community members, staff and families of Siena on Brendenwood. Each month, we pick one organization or individual in need and offer our services to them. Sometimes we go on-site and support with hands-on assistance. Other times, we stay at cozy at our senior independent living community and do projects behind the scenes that may be helpful. One other way we give is by sponsoring fundraisers- such as collections for food, warm clothing, children’s backpacks or in this case toys.
Our Siena Serves resident and staff volunteer program is always thinking up different ways to give locally. This holiday season we have partnered up to collect toys for local children who may have otherwise gone without a gift this Christmas. The collection will be split and given to two organizations. The Harlem Township Toys for Kids and Toys for Tots. The Harlem Township has collected in years past for families with children ranging from infants to fourteen. They also collect for Walter Lawson’s Children’s Home. The Toys for Tots campaign is able to assist local families with gifts for children up to age twelve. In a few cases, they have also gifted children aged fourteen to sixteen as well.
If you wish to help us and support this worthy cause, please drop off a toy to our office at Siena on Brendenwood between 9:00 am-5:00 pm Monday-Friday. The collection box will be picked up for donation on December 15th. Our toy bin, located at our Reception Desk, at 4444 Brendenwood Road, Rockford, IL. is waiting to be filled with not just toys, but with joy, happiness, love, compassion and faith. Please help us fill the bin with a variety of toys to bring joy to some local girls and boys.
